Problems trying to download Windows 10? Follow the steps so you can force this process.

Step 1. Run regedit (Win+R)

Step 2. Locate the following registry key:

Create entry if it doesn’t exist.

Step 3. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with Name = “AllowOSUpgrade” (without the quotes), and set the Value = 1

Step 4. Click on the Windows 10 notification icon in the toolbar. As before, there will be a box saying “OK, notify me when ready”, but next to that will be a new text box that saying “More information”.

Step 5. Click on “More information”.

Now you should then get a new click area which says “I want to upgrade now anyway (not recommended)”. Click on that.

After a short while it should then bring up Windows Update and you will have a new option to “Get Started” on upgrading to Windows 10!

If Windows Update doesn’t come up after a couple of minutes, try running it yourself.
